Description

The museum and the Pays d’art et d’histoire invite you to discover the Neolithic period, a key era in prehistory that saw the first communities settle down, develop agriculture and livestock farming, and create new tools suited to their way of life. Alongside an introductory ‘Archéochrono’ exhibition, visitors will be able to explore the finds from the Noisats site in Gurgy through the ‘Prehistoric DNA’ exhibition, watch the screening of the France Télévisions documentary ‘In the Footsteps of France’s First Farmers’ and, as a special treat, admire artefacts from the museum’s collections. On Saturday, archaeologists from Inrap will be hosting discussion sessions and activities centred on the Neolithic period. On the programme: a presentation of reconstructed tools, an axe-polishing workshop and discussions on burial practices and major archaeological discoveries made in the Yonne.
