Who is Alain Créac’h? It’s him!
An artist who draws ‘nonsense’… which may not always be nonsense.
Or perhaps it is. It all depends on how you look at it.
Ever since his childhood, and throughout his career as an architect, drawing has always been a part of his life. Even today, it remains his preferred means of expression. His choice of drawing, which now dominates his work, affords him remarkable creative freedom: from sketches made whilst out and about, to humorous drawings and personal images that sometimes border on painting, Alain Créac’h allows himself every detour and every tone. This freedom gives rise to a body of work that is by turns critical, questioning, poetic or simply a record of everyday life. With no other ambition than to share his emotions, his questions, his frustrations, and even, at times, his fears, he offers a lively, sensitive and often mischievously offbeat perspective on the world. His artistic journey has led him to numerous group exhibitions with the Mouv’Art association, notably in Auxerre, Avallon, Vézelay and Saint-Aubin-Château-Neuf. He has also presented his work in solo exhibitions at the Abbaye Saint-Germain in Auxerre, at Acanthe (La
Ferté-Loupière) and in Tonnerre. Alain Créac’h is also the winner of the City of Auxerre Prize (2017), an accolade that highlights the power and originality of his visual world. In 2026, this exhibition invites you to discover an artist who observes the world with humour and tenderness and who, through his drawings, encourages us to reflect, to smile and, at times, to dream.
