The Ô la belle toile! open-air film festival is organised by the Pays d'art et d'histoire de l'Auxerrois. Each film selected highlights a heritage feature in the town where it is shown. Peter and Elliot the Dragon, 2016, directed by David Lowery. With Bryce Dallas Howard, Robert Redford, Oakes Fegley. Why this film? The church in Escamps is dedicated to Saint George, a Christian martyr from the early 4th century. He is traditionally depicted on horseback, slaying a dragon with his spear. This scene represents the victory of Faith over a demon, in this case the dragon, and can be found on a processional banner preserved in the church. However, it would seem that not all dragons deserve the same fate, and some are not the demons described in many books. Is Elliott one of them?
