A zany trio of playful children take on the challenge of adapting a Charles Dickens novel that hasn't aged a day! A delightful piece of theatre for all the family, aged 9 and up.
A monument to Charles Dickens in an hour and fifteen minutes? Great writers, great expectations... The Mamaille company has taken up the challenge and come up with an iconoclastic and sobritish version of the edifying adventures of orphan Pip in Victorian England. Great Expectations is a sweeping book, denouncing poverty, shackles and chains... A tough pitch to pull off? Nothing to impress our little troupe, whose members seem to rival each other in their naïve enthusiasm. These real clowns, capable of playing all the characters, perform in the simplicity of a trestle theatre with a few masks, objects and drawn sets. With a smile on their faces, they remind us that it's never too early to talk about inequalities, that theatre is an art for children... and that all you have to do is believe in it to unleash the magic.
