More than a portrait, Pina is an act of transmission. Wim Wenders celebrates the art of Pina Bausch, a major figure in contemporary dance, through the performances of her dancers, filmed inside and outside the theatre.
Shortly before filming began, the choreographer died suddenly, leaving her loved ones and her work in limbo. The film thus becomes a posthumous tribute, carried by the vivid memories of those who accompanied her. On stage, in a factory or in the middle of a crossroads, her pieces - The Rite of Spring, Café Müller, Kontakthof - resurface, intense and inhabited, as if dancing made it possible to keep what is wavering on its feet. This sensitive and vibrant documentary sheds a fascinating light on her work with the Tanztheater Wuppertal troupe.
