An actor, Pascal Tokatlian has distinguished himself in major theatrical adventures with Didier-Georges Gabily, Matthias Langhoff, Jacques Lassalle and others. As author, director and actor, he follows an autobiographical path guided by the need to perpetuate a memory. L'Effacement chronicles a son's return to his mother, stricken by the age-related illness that forces him "to mourn someone while they are still alive". In forced solitude, somewhere between dream and reality, this son speaks and remembers in order to fight against oblivion. Fragment by fragment, in almost cinematic sequences, L'Effacement progresses, but the obstinate word remains, like a final act of faith in life and in the restorative power of theatre.
