Twelve instrumentalists, four voices, a scintillating set of images... and lyrics by the lively songwriter Oldelaf. The least we can say is that Les Frivolités Parisiennes have lived up to their reputation in creating this adaptation. This cat is a special case: as devious as he is tolerant, as fiercely independent as he is attached to his mistress, the beautiful Zlabya, and above all, determined to have his Bar Mitzvah, he contradicts intolerant people of all stripes. This ode to living together was bound to appeal to the Ensemble des Frivolités, who cheerfully conjure up a harmonious Babel of registers: oriental music, chamber music, operetta, musical comedy, music hall... With its ingenious orchestration, refined harmonies and hilarious playing, this cat is an enchanter!
