Three women, three generations, two countries: Spain - France. Many stories of migration, work and family too: those passed on from mother to daughter, sometimes under the cloak of the unspoken or the unconscious. Coats, blouses, dresses... the stage is full of them, brightly coloured and arranged on mobile racks... As for the conscience - personified by the author and director Laura Perrotte herself - it is having fun around Abuela. Embodied by the Brazilian dancer Vinicius Carvalho, the grandmother comes forward in a blood red dress. The reference to Pedro Almodovar's universe makes perfect sense, whether for its colourful visual poetry or its inclination to use burlesque as an antidote to the most intimate pains. However anchored in the family novel they may be, those experienced by Abuela nonetheless tell of the universal violence of the female condition. Don't look for victims among these women: rather, they are resisters, armed with words, anger and laughter!
